Seaforth Parent Advisory Council

It’s starting to feel like summer with the fantastic weather we have been experiencing. Many exciting year-end activities have been taking place including PAC sponsored Spirit Day on April 22nd and Family Bingo Night May 6th. Both events were a big success and relied heavily on a team effort. I’ve included a few photos capturing Spirit Day highlights. Thank you to our many sponsors, teachers, alumni and volunteers who supported this uniquely Seaforth event.
Thank you to the many families who donated silent auction items for Family Bingo night and volunteered to help with activities. Congratulations to Div.3 Mme.Papazian’s class for bringing in the highest bid for our class basket donations and winning popcorn for the entire classroom. Well done!

Seaforth Stampede
Students are now gearing up for Seaforth’s Western Themed Sports Day on May 20th. If you haven’t had the opportunity to attend opening ceremonies for a Seaforth Sports Day, I would highly recommend stopping by for the amazing performance. Family and friends are welcome to attend and cheer on all our students as their team houses compete for the coveted first place ribbon.
With the help of our amazing volunteer’s PAC is able to offer a concession for those looking for a hot beverage to start the day. Featured menu items will include sushi, hot dogs, popcorn and cupcakes along with an assortment of snack and beverages.

BC’s School Fruit and Vegetable Nutritional Program
has provided Seaforth students with free fruit and vegetables twice a month throughout the year and will make their last delivery June 1st with cherry tomatoes.

We are currently looking for a volunteer with a Food Safe Certificate to help continue this valuable program into the 2016/2017 school year. Please contact Cheryl Healey for further information.

2016 Seaforth PAC Scholarship
The Seaforth PAC is proud to present this year’s scholarship to Burnaby Mountain students Kevin Moon and Philip He. All applicants were short listed by their secondary school with our Seaforth Scholarship Committee receiving the top three from each school. It was a very difficult decision as we have very talented Seaforth Alumni. The scholarship was open to all graduating Seaforth Alumni with the top two applicants receiving the award.

Kevin Moon has been an active member within our community dedicating countless hours in various leadership positions including, Royal Canadian Air Cadets, Student Council and as a Youth Facilitator for the Red Cross advocating anti-bulling. “I have come to believe in the sharing of skills and defences. With every opportunity I look to achieve growth as well as inspire those around me.”-Kevin Moon
Philip He has overcome adversity and excelled as an individual and as a leader volunteering his time as a Special Olympics coach. Philip’s achievement in the sciences has inspired further interest in the STEM field from younger students. “As a humble, self-reflecting individual who strives to inspire others” Philip He exemplifies the qualities of a Seaforth Alumni Scholar.
Congratulations to both our 2016 Seaforth PAC Scholarship recipients, Kevin Moon and Philip He.

Student Drop off ZonesThis is a friendly reminder there is no parking permitted in student drop off zones. Drivers must remain inside their vehicle while in the drop off zone to keep with the flow of traffic and move forward into the next available space.
Thank you for respecting the traffic rules and helping our children arrive and end their school day at Seaforth safely.

The Seaforth Hot Lunch ProgramMany of our Seaforth families have taken a day off from making lunches on Tuesdays by ordering from our volunteer run Seaforth Hot Lunch Program. Ordering is available through the Hot Lunch link on the Seaforth Website or you can click

Please ensure orders are paid the same day to avoid cancellation. If you require further assistance please contact your hot lunch administrators.Bonnie Kao

Seaforth Elementary School

École Seaforth Elementary School is a peanut free zone. Students with life threating allergies are required to carry an EpiPen® ( Auto-Injector a disposable, pre-filled automatic injection device that administers epinephrine in the event of a severe allergic reaction) during recess, lunch and on school field trips. There are many companies that offer caring cases for EpiPen or Allerject that are discrete and easy for your Kindergartener to fasten and unfasten. You can find examples of these cases online from companies such as Kozyepi, or Allerject .

Heart of a Volunteer

Risin’ up to make our school great
Gave your time, gave your effort
The events you organize and create
Help our school be a fun place to be.

A full-time job with no money in it
You do the hard work for free
Carnival, Spirit Day and Hot Lunch
Special days that you plan for me.

It’s the help of the parents who are volunteers
Risin’ up to the challenge of our planning
And the help is appreciated by all of us
So we want to say thank you to you! Volunteers!

So many times you’re our inspiration
You give us knowledge and passion
You give us guidance and you show us the way
Got the will and the skill to succeed.

It’s the help of the parents who are volunteers
Risin’ up to the challenge of our planning
And the help is appreciated by all of us
So we want to say thank you to you! Volunteers!

Volunteers, where would we be without you
Without your help we’d be lost
There’s so many other things you can do
Like the PAC! Let us know when you can start. (spoken)

It’s the help of the parents who are volunteers
Risin’ up to the challenge of our planning
And the help is appreciated by all of us
So we want to say thank you to you! Volunteers!
